Tangy Flank Steak

Ingredients

- 1 1/2 lbs beef flank steak
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, quartered and sliced
- 4 ounces chopped green chilies, drained (optional)
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Recipe
- 1 cut flank steak in half if needed to fit in crock pot.
- 2 in a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown flank steak in oil.
- 3 place in crock pot.
- 4 in skillet, place onion, green chilies if desired, water, vinegar, chili powder, garlic powder, sugar, salt and pepper.
- 5 bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to loosen browned bits from bottom of skillet.
- 6 pour over meat.
- 7 cover and cook on high for 3 to 3 1/2 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours or until meat is very tender.
- 8 transfer meat to a warm platter.
- 9 slice meat diagonally.
- 10 remove onion from slow cooker with a slotted spoon and arrange around meat.
- 11 if desired, baste with juices.
