The Easiest French Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 6 large yellow onions
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 14 ounces chicken broth
  • 10 ounces beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons marsala (optional) or 2 tablespoons red wine (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 peel and thinly slice the onions. put in the slow cooker and toss with the olive oil. cover and cook for 9-10 hours on high.
  • 2 add the broths and wine/marsala, if using; add no water or salt. cover and continue to cook on high until hot, 15-30 minutes.
  • 3 serve with garlic bread or french bread topped with melted gruyere cheese.
