Toad In The Hole

Total Time: 1 hr 45 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr 30 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/4 cup bacon drippings
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 sausages
  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings

Recipe

  • 1 prepare batter of first 5 ingredients.
  • 2 allow to sit for 1 hour.
  • 3 fry sausages.
  • 4 heat oven to 450°f.
  • 5 place dripping in pudding pan.
  • 6 heat in oven until sizzling.
  • 7 pour batter into hot fat in pan.
  • 8 lay sausages in batter.
  • 9 bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until pudding has doubled in volume and browned around the edges.
  • 10 be sure your dripping is hot and sizzly or the pudding will be greasy.
  • 11 serve with mashed potatoes, peas and beef gravy.
