Red Wine Sauce

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth (homemade is better)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 pinch thyme (optional)
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 saute onion in butter 3 minutes or until browned. add wine; cook 3 minutes. add broth; bring to boil and cook 5 minutes.
  • 2 stir together water and cornstarch. add to wine mixture and cook 1 minute until thickened. adjust seasonings with salt and pepper and optional thyme.
