Teriyaki Burgerdogs With Roma Relish

Ingredients

- 1 large roma tomato, cut in small dice
- 2 tablespoons finely diced red onions
- 2 tablespoons finely diced red bell peppers
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
- 1/2 lime, juice of
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 4 tablespoons tropical-flavored teriyaki sauce (soy vay brand island teriyaki recommended)
- 2 tablespoons mild pepper sauce (try me tiger sauce brand recommended)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon beef base

- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1/8 teaspoon finely minced jalapeno (or to taste)
- 1 dash red wine vinegar
- 8 lettuce leaves
- 8 -16 leaves fresh basil
Recipe
- 1 combine all relish ingredients in a small bowl.
- 2 mix well.
- 3 cover and refrigerate until needed.
- 4 combine ground beef, teriyaki sauce, pepper sauce, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
- 5 mix well by hand.
- 6 shape into 8 hot-dog-shaped cylinders.
- 7 place burgers on a plate and sprinkle with beef base.
- 8 cover with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate at least 2 hours. this step is optional.
- 9 heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- 10 add burgers and brown well, about 3 minutes.
- 11 add remaining teriyaki and pepper sauce, wine, jalapeno and vinegar.
- 12 stir gently.
- 13 cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, or until desired degree of doneness is reached, stirring occasionally.
- 14 to serve, place a burger on each lettuce leaf.
- 15 place a spoonful of relish next to each burger and top with 1-2 leaves fresh basil.
- 16 drizzle some of the pan juices over the meat.
- 17 roll up the lettuce leaves and enjoy!
