Swedish Meatballs

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb lamb sausage
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal or 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/8 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon onion, grated
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Recipe

  • 1 using hands, combine ground beef, lamb sausage, bread crumbs or oatmeal, sour cream, beaten egg, allspice, salt & grated onion in large mixing bowl and then form into balls.
  • 2 melt butter over medium heat. brown meatballs in butter.
  • 3 meanwhile, dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water.
  • 4 when meatballs are nice and brown and cooked through, pour the bouillon mixture over top. simmer for 10 minutes, or until right before serving.
  • 5 before serving, thicken sauce. to thicken, mix flour with water to form a paste (like the texture of glue). stir into sauce a little at a time. let simmer. repeat by adding more of a flour/water mixture until the gravy reaches desired consistency.
